• WKU announces record fiscal year in philanthropy with more than $45 million in private support in 2017-2018: WKU surpassed its previous record of private support in a fiscal year with a new high of $45 million in private support in 2017-2018. This total includes gifts from more than 14,000 donors from all 50 states and eight countries who made more than 31,000 individual gifts. Donors direct how their philanthropy is allocated, and 786 different initiatives received support that benefited students, faculty and staff.
• WKU Regents to hold retreat, quarterly meeting Aug. 2-3: The WKU Board of Regents will hold its annual retreat and quarterly meeting Thursday and Friday (Aug. 2-3).
• Folk Studies Graduate Appointed Director of Studio Potter: Anthony Stellaccio, a recent graduate of WKU’s Folklore MA Program, has been appointed as the new Director of Studio Potter (SP). Based out of Northampton, Massachusetts, Studio Potter is a non-profit organization serving the ceramics community since 1972 through the semi-annual publication of Studio Potter journal. Stellaccio will begin his work with SP in early November 2018.
• WKU Student Priority Registration for Stickwork Project: Attention WKU students, if you’re interested in volunteering to assist with Stickwork at WKU, featuring artist Patrick Dougherty, priority registration is open through Aug. 1. Volunteer slots are limited; students can call (270) 745-2594 to reserve a volunteer slot but must confirm their reservation in person at the Kentucky Museum by Aug. 30. The Stickwork Project will be conducted Oct. 1-19. For details, visit www.wku.edu/grow/stickwork
• WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. WKU's Public Radio can be heard on WKYU-FM (88.9) in Bowling Green/Glasgow; WDCL-FM (89.7) in Somerset/Campbellsville; WKPB-FM (88.9) in Henderson/Owensboro; WKUE-FM (90.9) in Elizabethtown/Bardstown; and online at http://www.wkyufm.org/

• Football: Countdown to Kickoff – 100 Days of Hilltopper History: WKU Football will kick off its 100th season on August 31, and each day this summer, WKU Athletics is treating fans to unique and interesting history of Hilltopper Football, from never-before-seen photos to game tickets and programs and everything in between.

• WKU Bingocize program receives $400,000 NIH grant: A WKU program that blends exercise and bingo for the elderly is heading into a clinical trial thanks to a grant topping $400,000 from the National Institutes of Health.
• A celebration of life for the late WKU professor, Dr. Ed Bohlander: WKU professor Dr. Ed Bohlander passed away in Vietnam after being in a coma for over a month while on vacation there. On Friday, the community remembered his legacy. More: Family, friends remember WKU professor who died in Vietnam
