Fall Semester Fast Approaching
- Wednesday, August 1st, 2018
Fellow Faculty and Staff:
I hope you are having a restorative summer and are ramping up for the fall semester on the Hill. I’m looking forward to seeing each of you at the Faculty & Staff Convocation on Friday, August 24, at 8:00 am in the Van Meter Hall auditorium.
This year we begin our institutional climb in earnest. We worked for a year together on our strategic plan, which is beginning to take its final shape now, and I’m excited about where this will lead us over the next decade. The Board of Regents will vote on the plan this Friday, August 3, and it will be a topic of significant conversation at their annual retreat. I encourage you to take some time to review the draft plan, along with key metrics, located here https://www.wku.edu/strategicplan/. Additional metrics will be identified going forward.
Additionally, please join me in welcoming Dr. Terry Ballman, our new provost, to campus. Terry is a critical member of our leadership team, and I look forward to working closely with her as we implement our strategic plan, a new budget model, and many more initiatives in the coming years.
Finally, M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan is coming up, and this year we need your help. We have shortened the gap between the end of M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan and the first day of classes. This will enable us to build on the excitement and momentum of the week’s activities to propel students into their first week of classes. This change shifts Move-in from Saturday and Sunday to Monday and Tuesday, August 20-21. Please join me in volunteering and welcoming our new students. This is a great opportunity for us to demonstrate our student focus. Shifts are available both days, and you can learn more and sign up here: https://www.wku.edu/masterplan/getinvolved/movein.php.
See you on the 24th. Go Tops!
