- Deep dive: How WKU’s Crawford Hydrology Lab solves problems underground: Deep in the ground beneath southcentral Kentucky awaits one of nature’s marvels: the Mammoth Cave system, which, at more than 400 miles, is the world’s longest known cave system. At any given time, there’s a good chance that researchers from WKU’s Crawford Hydrology Lab, led by Dr. Chris Groves, are conducting research in this information-rich environment.
- Hannah Dias to publish second children’s book related to diversity and self-love: Imagine growing up in a world where you are constantly asked “What are you?” based simply on the color of your skin. For WKU alumna, Hannah Dias of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., it’s a reality she is all too familiar with. “From the time I was very young, complete strangers would inquire about my ethnicity,” explained Dias. “As an adult, I learned this was something many other girls had struggled with whether they were mixed, Hispanic, African American, Indian, etc.”
- WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. - Men’s golf: Chan Metts Named New Head Coach: Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Todd Stewart announced Monday the hiring of Chan Metts as the next head coach of the WKU Hilltopper Golf program. Metts comes to The Hill following two highly successful seasons as an assistant coach at Georgia Southern, during which he was heavily involved in tournaments, travel, recruiting, practices, schedules and workouts.
- Soccer: Lady Toppers Picked Ninth in Preseason C-USA Poll: WKU Soccer has been picked to finish ninth in the annual preseason C-USA coaches' poll as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. Last season, WKU finished in a tie for eighth place in C-USA after a 4-5-1 record in conference play that saw the Lady Toppers come away victorious in four of their last five matches. Rice and North Texas, who have combined to win every regular season C-USA crown since 2014, are tabbed first and second, respectively, followed by 2016 tournament champion Charlotte, Old Dominion and Florida Atlantic.
- Football: Countdown to Kickoff – 100 Days of Hilltopper History: WKU Football will kick off its 100th season on August 31, and WKU Athletics is treating fans to unique and interesting history of Hilltopper Football.
- Men’s basketball: Countdown to Tipoff - 100 Days of Hilltopper Basketball History: The 100th season of WKU Hilltopper Basketball will tip off in November. WKU Athletics is treating fans to unique moments and interesting history from Hilltopper Basketball leading up to the start of the 2018-19 season.

- Ballman begins tenure as WKU Provost: Last Tuesday was the final day as WKU Provost for Dr. David Lee. On Wednesday, Terry Ballman took his place and started her time as the new Provost on the hill. Ballman comes to WKU from Cal-State San Bernardino where she served as the Dean of the College of Arts and Letters since 2013.
- QB Thomas brings sturdy frame, cannon arm to Hilltoppers: Kevaris Thomas was a 6-foot high school sophomore when he hit his growth spurt. One year later, the broad-shouldered quarterback from Lakeland, Fla., stood 6-4 and was one of the biggest players on the field. “It got easier,” the WKU QB said. “I was over everyone. The size really helped me become more of a good player at the position. I got harder to bring down. I could see easier than I could before.
