• Guided by strategic plan, WKU ready to move forward: WKU is ready to move ahead now that the 10-year road map is in place. That was the message WKU President Timothy C. Caboni delivered to faculty and staff Friday (Aug. 24) during the annual Convocation.
• WKU Opportunity Fund receives $450,000 award from James Graham Brown Foundation: Marking the first announcement for the WKU Opportunity Fund, President Timothy C. Caboni announced a two-year, $450,000 grant to WKU from the James Graham Brown Foundation of Louisville.
• WKU honors faculty, staff at annual Convocation: WKU honored several university-wide award winners during the annual Faculty and Staff Convocation Friday (Aug 24). Dr. Lacretia Dye, Associate Professor of Counseling and Student Affairs, received the Spirit of WKU Award.
• Fourth group begins MFA in Creative Writing program: The WKU Department of English welcomes its fourth class of students in the Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing program this fall.
• WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. WKU's Public Radio can be heard on WKYU-FM (88.9) in Bowling Green/Glasgow; WDCL-FM (89.7) in Somerset/Campbellsville; WKPB-FM (88.9) in Henderson/Owensboro; WKUE-FM (90.9) in Elizabethtown/Bardstown; and online at http://www.wkyufm.org/

• Soccer: WKU Battles to 1-1 Draw in Home Opener Against Miami (Ohio): Freshman midfielder Ambere Barnett netted her third goal in the last two matches, but Miami (Ohio) answered with a strike in the second half as WKU fought to a 1-1 draw after 110 minutes with the RedHawks at the WKU Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon. Next: WKU (1-2-1) will host Lipscomb Friday at 6 p.m.
• Volleyball: Anderson's Career Day Gets WKU Back on Track: Behind a double-double effort from senior Rachel Anderson, WKU Volleyball collected its first win of the 2018 season in Saturday's finale from Charleston. Following a four-set loss to weekend host College of Charleston to start the day, the Lady Toppers responded against Missouri State with a 3-1 victory as the team began to gel. Next: WKU (1-2) returns to The Hill at 6 p.m. Tuesday, for its home-opener against Belmont.
• Football: WKU To Host Grammy Award Winners Cage the Elephant for Special Appearance Sept. 8: WKU President Tim Caboni, in conjunction with WKU Athletics, will host GRAMMY® AWARD-winning rock band – and Bowling Green natives – Cage the Elephant for a special appearance prior to WKU Football's home opener on Sept. 8.
• Football: Countdown to Kickoff – 100 Days of Hilltopper History: WKU Football will kick off its 100th season on August 31, and WKU Athletics is treating fans to unique and interesting history of Hilltopper Football. More: Clear Bag Policy
• Men’s basketball: Countdown to Tipoff - 100 Days of Hilltopper Basketball History: The 100^th season of WKU Hilltopper Basketball will tip off in November. WKU Athletics is treating fans to unique moments and interesting history from Hilltopper Basketball leading up to the start of the 2018-19 season. More: Vote for All-Century Team.

WKU in the News

• College coaches are put on pedestals. I learned from one who stayed grounded: It was 1999, almost 20 fast years ago, and I was a WKU student who, if you could smell past the bourbon, still carried scents of innocence. Senioritis persuaded me to take Basketball Coaching, figuring it was an easy elective. The teacher was a dignified man named John Oldham, a charming old coach who won with class and human empathy and left the profession before it could invade his morals. When I registered for his class, I couldn’t envision that Oldham’s lessons and discussions would spark vivid memories two decades later.
