• WKU celebrating International Year of Cuba: Cuba will take center stage at WKU during the 2018-19 International Year Of… (IYO) program. Replete with opportunities to learn about this neighboring Caribbean country and its history, culture and longstanding and complex relationship with the U.S., the International Year of Cuba calendar of events will include art exhibitions, a film festival, culinary demonstrations, lectures, dance performances and more.
• 'Women Photojournalists of Washington' exhibit to open today with lecture by Carol Guzy: Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist Carol Guzy of The Washington Post will present a lecture, Bearing Witness: Photojournalism and Emotional Aftershocks, tonight at WKU during the opening of a new photo exhibition, Women Photojournalists of Washington, D.C. More: 50th anniversary of pivotal year recalled in 'WKU Project 68'
• Anthropology Faculty Publishes in Anthropology News: Dr. Ashley Stinnett, Assistant Professor in the Department of Folk Studies and Anthropology, contributed a piece to Anthropology News "What's In Your Bag, Anthropologists?" series. Her contribution was based on her RCAP funded (Research and Creative Activities Program) summer research in Amsterdam, where she was studying how people living in Holland are experiencing meat production and consumption.
• Faculty House Drive Closed Today: The closure of Faculty House Drive, from Van Meter Hall to Faculty House, will be extended through today as Facilities Management repairs a gas line. Access to reserved and disability spaces in Old Fort Lot will remain. The entrance to Faculty House Drive will be used for two-way traffic. Please use caution. A few temporary 30 minute parking spaces will be available at the entrance to Faculty House Drive for errands at Potter Hall. Note: The dining facilities in Garrett Conference Center also are closed today but offices in the building remain open.
• What’s Happening at WKU: Check out a list of events through Sept. 15.
• WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. WKU Sports

• Volleyball: WKU Sweeps Belmont, Extends Longest Home Winning Streak in Nation: WKU Volleyball opened its 2018 home slate with a sweep of Belmont to extend its home win streak to 24-consecutive matches – the longest in the nation. The Lady Toppers improved to 2-2 following a balanced effort on both sides of the ball Tuesday night. Next: WKU hits the road for another pre-conference tournament Friday and Saturday in St. Louis, Mo.
• Football: Practice Report: After four years as a backup quarterback, Drew Eckels will finally get an opportunity to start in WKU Football's season opener Friday night at No. 4 Wisconsin. Still, the redshirt senior boasts experience, having seen playing time in 17 games in relief of Mike White and Brandon Doughty, arguably two of the best gunslingers in program history.     
• Football: Head Coach Mike Sanford Radio and TV Shows Ready to Roll: The 100th season of WKU Football is rapidly approaching. To help Hilltopper fans get ready for kickoff, the Mike Sanford Radio Show and 'Coaches Corner with Mike Sanford' television show are set to return to the airwaves beginning tonight and Thursday, respectively.
• Football: Countdown to Kickoff – 100 Days of Hilltopper History: WKU Football will kick off its 100th season on August 31, and WKU Athletics is treating fans to unique and interesting history of Hilltopper Football. More: Clear Bag Policy
• Men’s basketball: Countdown to Tipoff - 100 Days of Hilltopper Basketball History: The 100^th season of WKU Hilltopper Basketball will tip off in November. WKU Athletics is treating fans to unique moments and interesting history from Hilltopper Basketball leading up to the start of the 2018-19 season. More: Vote for All-Century Team.

WKU in the News

• WKU kicks off project recognizing 50th anniversary of 1968: Most college students today feel no connection to 1968, a year that included the assassination of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. and the deadly Tet Offensive in the Vietnam War, among other historic events.
• Back from injury, Chargers' 2017 draft pick Forrest Lamp finally gets to play in a game: In his most recent game, Forrest Lamp scored a touchdown. As a left tackle. He isn’t likely to do that Thursday when the Chargers conclude the preseason at San Francisco, but that doesn’t mean he’s approaching his return to the field with any less anticipation. Lamp hasn’t appeared in a game since he was a WKU Hilltopper in the 2016 Boca Raton Bowl.
