• WKU Offers New Online Local Government Graduate Certificate: Current and future local government employees now have access to a new online graduate certificate program through the Department of Political Science at WKU. WKU now offers a 100 percent online Local Government Graduate Certificate designed for working professionals. WKU Department of Political Science Assistant Professor Dr. Daniel Boden is the director of the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program and program coordinator for this new certificate.
• Campus traffic advisory: Crews remain on scene this morning working to repair the traffic signal/control system damaged in an accident Wednesday night at the intersection of Old Morgantown Road/University Boulevard/College Heights Boulevard. The Old Morgantown Road side of the intersection is closed with a detour. Please allow extra time for your commute this morning. Stop signs are in place.
• Faculty House Drive Closed Today: The closure of Faculty House Drive, from Van Meter Hall to Faculty House, is extended through today while work continues on a gas line. Access to reserved and disability spaces in Old Fort Lot will remain. The entrance to Faculty House Drive will be used for two-way traffic. Please use caution. A few temporary 30 minute parking spaces will be available at the entrance to Faculty House Drive for errands at Potter Hall.
• John Asher Scholarship Fund: Our hearts go out to the family and friends of John Asher (’90), a devoted Hilltopper alumnus, volunteer and parent, who passed away Monday morning. As a lasting memorial to John, his family has established the John Asher Scholarship Fund housed in the College Heights Foundation at WKU. This fund will live on in perpetuity as a tribute to John, his accomplishments, and the impact he had on the lives he touched.

• WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. WKU's Public Radio can be heard on WKYU-FM (88.9) in Bowling Green/Glasgow; WDCL-FM (89.7) in Somerset/Campbellsville; WKPB-FM (88.9) in Henderson/Owensboro; WKUE-FM (90.9) in Elizabethtown/Bardstown; and online at http://www.wkyufm.org/

• Cross Country:  Former Hilltopper Patrick Cheptoek Returns to The Hill as WKU Distance Coach: Head coach Erik Jenkins has announced the hiring of former WKU standout Patrick Cheptoek as an assistant coach who will work primarily with the Hilltopper distance runners on both the Cross Country and Track and Field programs. Cheptoek, a native of Uganda, joins the Red and White following a successful professional running career.
• Football: Countdown to Kickoff – 100 Days of Hilltopper History: WKU Football will kick off its 100th season on August 31, and WKU Athletics is treating fans to unique and interesting history of Hilltopper Football. More: Clear Bag Policy; photos from fall camp
• Men’s basketball: Countdown to Tipoff - 100 Days of Hilltopper Basketball History: The 100^th season of WKU Hilltopper Basketball will tip off in November. WKU Athletics is treating fans to unique moments and interesting history from Hilltopper Basketball leading up to the start of the 2018-19 season. More: Vote for All-Century Team.

WKU in the News

• WKU Police: Increase in collisions as students return to campus: As students return to WKU, you may have noticed more foot and vehicle traffic around the city. Aside from slowing your commute down, that increase can also be dangerous. The WKU Police Department says they see an uptick in roadway accidents around campus, especially in the first few weeks of class, but that can be prevented.
