WKU CCSJ to present 'Social Justice Salons' lecture series

The WKU Center for Citizenship & Social Justice will host the first Fall 2018 lecture of its "Social Justice Salons" series from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 18 at Downing Student Union, room 2113.
The first lecture will be led by Dr. James Kanan of WKU's Department of Sociology, who will present “Housing, Inequality, & Violent Crime: Perspectives on American and Cuba.”
During the "Social Justice Salons" series, WKU faculty, staff, students and community members gather to discuss complex contemporary issues surrounding citizenship and social justice. The typical format of “Social Justice Salons” includes a short presentation on a topic, followed by facilitated discussion.
The event is open to anyone interested in participating. Refreshments will be provided.
The "Social Justice Salons" series will continue Oct. 16 and Nov. 19.
