• Don McGuire, member of Hilltoppers quartet, passes away: Don McGuire, a member of the legendary Hilltoppers musical quartet, passed away Sept. 6 at the age of 86. McGuire attended WKU on a basketball scholarship after a spectacular performance in the state high school all-star game, but it was his musical skill that brought him the greatest acclaim during his time on the Hill in the 1950s.
• WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. WKU's Public Radio can be heard on WKYU-FM (88.9) in Bowling Green/Glasgow; WDCL-FM (89.7) in Somerset/Campbellsville; WKPB-FM (88.9) in Henderson/Owensboro; WKUE-FM (90.9) in Elizabethtown/Bardstown; and online at http://www.wkyufm.org/

• Men’s golf: Tops Finish Fuzzy Zoeller Invite with Best Round in 10 Years: Adversity struck early in the day Sunday for the WKU Hilltopper Golf team, but it ended with the program's best single round in more than 10 years in the first event under new coach Chan Metts. The Hilltoppers carded an 11-under 277 as a team in the final round of Indiana's Fuzzy Zoeller Invitational, their best round since also shooting a 277 at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic in the spring of 2008. Next: WKU returns to action this weekend in the Louisville Cardinal Challenge, which runs Friday through Sunday.
• Football: Hilltoppers Fall in Home Opener to Maine, 31-28: WKU's 48-yard field goal to tie the game was blocked, and the Hilltoppers fell in their 2018 home opener to Maine, 31-28. WKU jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first five minutes of the contest, but Maine rallied. WKU senior quarterback Drew Eckels threw for a career-high 347 yards on 23-of-41 passing with three touchdowns including two to junior receiver Lucky Jackson. Next: WKU at Louisville at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
• Volleyball: WKU Wraps Up 3-0 Weekend on The Hill; Kowalkowski Named Tournament MVP: With a 3-1 victory over Miami (OH) on Saturday, WKU Volleyball (6-4) secured its first tournament title of the 2018 season as the squad won its own Holiday Inn-University Plaza Invite. Junior Emma Kowalkowski was named Tournament MVP and sophomore Hallie Shelton also earned an All-Tournament Team nod. Next: With its first of two home pre-conference tournaments in the books, WKU Volleyball will remain home on The Hill again next weekend with the WKU Tournament on deck for Sept. 14-15. • Cross Country: Hilltoppers Wrap Up Action at Golden Eagle Invite: For the second-consecutive weekend, the WKU Cross Country squads headed to the Volunteer State with its most recent outing at the Golden Eagle Invite hosted by Tennessee Tech. The Lady Toppers claimed runner-up honors in the field of three while the men finished third in their four-team field.
• Men’s basketball: Countdown to Tipoff - 100 Days of Hilltopper Basketball History: The 100^th season of WKU Hilltopper Basketball will tip off in November. WKU Athletics is treating fans to unique moments and interesting history from Hilltopper Basketball leading up to the start of the 2018-19 season.

• WKU celebrates first home game with free Cage The Elephant concert: WKU celebrated their first home game of the season with a free Cage The Elephant concert. The concert had been a plan for over a year through a series of tweets between President Caboni and the band.
• WKU Meteorology Program unveils new mobile classroom: WKU's meteorology program, in partnership with the WKU Environmental Health and Safety and Emergency Management, unveiled a new mobile weather classroom Friday afternoon.
