• Record Number of Gatton Academy Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalists: Twenty-one seniors from The Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky have been recognized as semifinalists in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Competition, marking the most students recognized in one school year in the school’s history.
• WKU graduate Santos Lopez to present 'Keeping it Real in Reality' Sept. 18: WKU graduate Santos Lopez, executive producer for HGTV and Discovery, Inc., will return to the Hill for presentation on Tuesday (Sept. 18). “Keeping it Real in Reality,” hosted by WKU’s Department of Communication, will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Downing Student Union Auditorium.
• Department of Political Science & Political Engagement Project to host Constitution Week voter registration drive: The WKU Department of Political Science and the Political Engagement Project will host a Constitution Week voter registration drive on Tuesday (Sept. 18) from 9 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. outside Cherry Hall and from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Downing Student Union.
• Area 4th-graders to attend 23rd Progressive Agriculture Safety Days® event Sept. 27: About 700 fourth-graders from Warren, Allen and Edmonson counties will participate in the 23rd annual Progressive Agriculture Safety Days® program on Sept. 27 at WKU’s L.D. Brown Agricultural Exposition Center.
• WKU Hosts FAFSA Completion Event: The Department of Student Financial Assistance at WKU invites college-bound high school seniors and their families to attend a FAFSA Completion event on Oct. 13. This free event will assist students and their families with applying for college financial aid.
• Bus Traffic on College Heights Boulevard: There will be increased traffic and bus congestion on College Heights Boulevard near Van Meter Hall today.  School buses will be dropping off and picking up passengers for BG OnStage performances at Van Meter Hall.
• WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. WKU's Public Radio can be heard on WKYU-FM (88.9) in Bowling Green/Glasgow; WDCL-FM (89.7) in Somerset/Campbellsville; WKPB-FM (88.9) in Henderson/Owensboro; WKUE-FM (90.9) in Elizabethtown/Bardstown; and online at http://www.wkyufm.org/

• Football: WKU at Louisville on Saturday: The Hilltoppers (0-2) and Cardinals (1-1) renew a series that dates back to 1922 in the first of a three-game series. The two teams have not met since 1998 on the gridiron. Kickoff at Cardinal Stadium is set for 6:30 p.m. CT; the game will air on ACC Regional Sports Network and the Hilltopper IMG Sports Network. • Men’s basketball: Murray Working to be Tops' Next Standout Grad Transfer: When the going gets tough, Desean Murray is there to help the WKU Hilltopper Basketball team keep its eyes on the prize. "I keep reminding everybody," Murray said Thursday in his first media session at WKU. "Every time we're working out and something gets hard, we've got to make it to this (NCAA Tournament). We can't sit back watching."
• Men’s golf: Tops Proud of Resiliency Heading into Louisville Tournament: After a disappointing second round last weekend at the Fuzzy Zoeller Invitational, the WKU Hilltopper Golf team faced brutal conditions in Sunday's final round. That didn't slow down the Hilltoppers, who shot an 11-under 277 in the final round for their best single team round in more than 10 years. It was that conclusion to the opening event under first-year coach Chan Metts that has WKU optimistic heading into this weekend's Louisville Cardinals Challenge.
• Volleyball: Lady Toppers Set for WKU Tournament on The Hill: Coming off a 3-0 tournament victory last weekend, Lady Topper Volleyball looks to continue their NCAA-best 27-match home winning streak with this weekend's WKU Volleyball Tournament. ETSU (9-2), No. 22 Washington State (7-0) and Northern Illinois (2-9) all come to town to take on the Red and White on The Hill.
• Women’s golf: Opportunity Exists for Lady Tops Entering First Tourney in Mobile: With the graduation of former leaders comes new opportunity for the WKU Lady Topper Golf team. The Lady Toppers will have a sort of passing of the torch in their 2018-19 season, which begins this weekend at South Alabama's USA Intercollegiate.
• Cross country: Commodore Classic On Deck for WKU Teams: WKU Cross Country will be on the road this weekend as the team heads to Music City for the Commodore Classic hosted by Vanderbilt. The event will begin on Saturday at 9 a.m. CT with the men's 8K before the women's 5K at 10 a.m.
• Tennis: Lady Toppers Begin Season at Greater Cincinnati Invite: With an entirely new look, WKU Tennis is ready to begin the 2018-19 season at the Greater Cincinnati Collegiate Invitational in Mason, Ohio, today and Saturday. Head coach Greg Davis will begin his tenure with the Lady Toppers at the Northern Kentucky-hosted outing that will feature several teams from Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky.
• Men’s basketball: Countdown to Tipoff - 100 Days of Hilltopper Basketball History: The 100^th season of WKU Hilltopper Basketball will tip off in November. WKU Athletics is treating fans to unique moments and interesting history from Hilltopper Basketball leading up to the start of the 2018-19 season.

• WKU opens Center for Applied Science in Health and Aging: By 2035, there will be more people age 65 and older than children in the United States.
• WKU, Louisville resume rivalry with game full of familiar faces: If familiarity breeds contempt, well then WKU’s game at Louisville at 6:30 p.m. CDT Saturday is ripe to cultivate such mutual feelings. Personal and professional connections are aplenty when surveying the two programs separated by a two-hour stretch of I-65 interstate.
