• Young Adult Southern Book Con scheduled for October: The second annual Young Adult Southern (YAS) Book Con will take place on Oct. 19 starting at 9 a.m. CT in WKU's Downing Student Union. Featuring 40 authors of Young Adult or Middle Grade titles, YAS Book Con allows readers to come together and learn more about reading and writing from authors they admire in an interactive, open format.
• Panhellenic Council selects scholarship recipients for 2018-19: The Panhellenic Council of WKU has selected the recipients of the 2018-2019 Panhellenic Scholarships -- Madison Sennett of Alpha Xi Delta, New Member Scholarship; Haley Doerr of Kappa Delta, United in Sisterhood Scholarship; and Claire Kaelin of Delta Zeta, Panhellenic Pillars Scholarship.
• Celebrate Museum Day on Saturday at Kentucky Museum: Museum Day will be celebrated in participating museums nationwide on Saturday (Sept. 22). The Kentucky Museum will be offering free admission to all guests and will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• WKU Week in Photos: Sept. 10-14, 2018: Check out the latest installment of WKU Week in Photos by Clinton Lewis and Bryan Lemon of WKU Public Affairs on WKU's Facebook page.
• WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. WKU's Public Radio can be heard on WKYU-FM (88.9) in Bowling Green/Glasgow; WDCL-FM (89.7) in Somerset/Campbellsville; WKPB-FM (88.9) in Henderson/Owensboro; WKUE-FM (90.9) in Elizabethtown/Bardstown; and online at http://www.wkyufm.org/

• Women’s golf: Joiner Wins Fifth Career Title at USA Intercollegiate: Another year, another title for Mary Joiner. The WKU junior broke the Lady Topper Golf program record for 54-hole score Monday, surging to a four-stroke individual victory in the team's season opener at South Alabama's USA Intercollegiate. WKU placed third in the team standings with an 868 (290-290-288) total. Next: The Lady Toppers return to action at the Boston College Intercollegiate on Sept. 24-25 in Canton, Mass.
• Athletics: Hall of Fame Class of 2018 Announced: Three great names in the history of WKU Athletics will be inducted as the 28th class into the WKU Athletic Hall of Fame in ceremonies set for Homecoming Weekend this fall. The 2018 class includes Crystal Kelly (women's basketball), Matt Wilhite (baseball) and Rick Yeloushan (swimming).
• Volleyball: Cerino Secures C-USA Co-Offensive Player of the Week Nod with Big Weekend: For the second-consecutive week, WKU Volleyball has seen a student-athlete honored with Conference USA's Offensive Player of the Week nod as Sophia Cerino secured the title following a big weekend on The Hill. The weekly honor is the first of Cerino's career. Next: WKU vs. Cincinnati at 6 tonight at Diddle Arena.
• Football: Weekly Press Conference: Check out comments from Coach Mike Sanford and Defensive Coordinator Clayton White as WKU prepares to face Ball State on Saturday afternoon.
• Men’s basketball: Countdown to Tipoff - 100 Days of Hilltopper Basketball History: The 100^th season of WKU Hilltopper Basketball will tip off in November. WKU Athletics is treating fans to unique moments and interesting history from Hilltopper Basketball leading up to the start of the 2018-19 season.

• Gift creates journalism fellowship at Daily News: A new journalism fellowship named after a former Daily News reporter and city editor will help aspiring journalists at WKU chase their own dreams.
• Independent film series to begin with 'Hillbilly': The Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers begins in Bowling Green this week with a documentary that challenges stereotypes about Appalachia. The film “Hillbilly” will be screened at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Capitol Arts Center, followed by a question-and-answer session with people involved with the film. Tony Harkins, a history professor at WKU who is interviewed in “Hillbilly,” said the film seeks to examine and challenge persistent media portrayals that paint rural people as backwards and isolated.
