Report on The High Cost of Child Care Released
- T/TAS at WKU
- Wednesday, October 24th, 2018
We are sharing this newsletter from Child Care Aware of America about their recently released annual report, The US and the High Cost of Child Care. As Dionne Dobbins states below, "the high cost of care is an economical and emotional burden for families everywhere in the United States."
Today we released our annual report, The US and the High Cost of Child Care, with the latest data on the state of child care affordability across the country. Unfortunately, our findings show that child care is too expensive in every state and the District of Columbia. In fact, in most states, the cost of care each month is now more than the average cost of housing. To put it simply, the high cost of care is an economical and emotional burden for families everywhere in the United States.
But, you can help us find a solution. Armed with the findings in this report, you can help us draw attention to this problem facing families across the United States by:
- Sharing this report on social media using #ChildCareandUs...
- Contacting your state, local and national lawmakers and ask them to invest in systems that support working families and improve our current child care infrastructure
We are still adding county-level data into our interactive map. In the meantime, please review the County Cost Supplements. Printable Cost State Fact Sheets will be available by the end of the week.
Sincerely,
Dionne Dobbins, Ph.D.
