To the Hill and Beyond -- Homecoming on the Hill: Homecoming 2018 To the Hill and Beyond continues this weekend. (Watch this week’s View from the Hill.) Today’s schedule includes the Hall of Distinguished Alumni induction ceremony, the Homecoming parade and Big Red’s Roar. (The Homecoming Concert in the Park has been canceled.) Saturday’s events include numerous reunions, tailgating, Alumni W-Club Athletic Hall of Fame induction, WKU vs. FIU football game and crowning of the Homecoming queen. Activities conclude Sunday with the Mary Ellen & Jim Wayne Miller Celebration of Writing. WKU student receives Kentucky's 2018 GIS scholarship: WKU student Hannah Caudill of Elizabethtown was awarded the $1,000 GIS scholarship by the Kentucky Association of Mapping Professionals (KAMP). Caudill is majoring in Geography/Environmental Studies with a Certificate in GIS.
Veterans Upward Bound alumnus wins $1,000 national scholarship: WKU Veterans Upward Bound alumnus Jacob Barker of Bowing Green recently was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the National Association of Veterans Upward Bound.
Jack Britt: Entrepreneurship Is a Way of Life: Kentucky native and distinguished professor Dr. Jack Britt spoke to students about what it means to be an entrepreneur and how students can be entrepreneurial in their daily lives.
College of Health and Human Services Annual Report: Check out the 2017-18 annual report from WKU’s College of Health and Human Services. The report features updates on CHHS programs, students, faculty, staff and alumni.
Highbrow, Patrick Dougherty Sculpture at Kentucky Museum: Highbrow is a monumental and interactive sculpture constructed entirely of sticks. Patrick Dougherty and volunteers harvested saplings from local farms. Visit and walk through the whimsical sculpture located in the front lawn of the Kentucky Museum.
Annual WKU vs. MTSU Blood Drive Oct. 29-31: WKU and Middle Tennessee State University will continue their annual blood drive competition next week to collect donations for the American Red Cross. In Bowling Green, campus and community members can schedule appointments to donate from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Wednesday (Oct. 29-31) at the Preston Health and Activities Center. Football: WKU vs. FIU for Homecoming 2018: Coach Mike Sanford previews Saturday’s Homecoming game as the Hilltoppers host C-USA East Division leader FIU. WKU’s all-time record in the Homecoming game sits at 54-29-3, and the Toppers have won four consecutive Homecoming games. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m. CT on beIN sports. Soccer: Lady Toppers Wrap Up Regular Season Against Marshall on Senior Night: WKU Soccer will close out the 2018 regular season this evening at 6 against Marshall at the WKU Soccer Complex, with Sarah Gorham, Nicole Roseland, Hannah Cady and Megan Morris set to be honored in a ceremony following the match as part of Senior Night festivities.
Volleyball: Tops Headed for Texas Looking to Get Back on Track: WKU Volleyball is headed to Texas with a full slate on deck for the weekend. The Lady Toppers will open the road trip in El Paso at UTEP this evening before closing the swing out at UTSA on Sunday.
Men’s basketball: Hilltoppers Unveil Limited-Edition, 16-Piece Poster for 100th Season: 16 games. 16 pieces. One historic poster. In celebration of the 100th season of Hilltopper Basketball, WKU is unveiling a limited edition, commemorative poster split into 16 pieces that can be collected at home games throughout the season.
Men’s basketball: Countdown to Tipoff - 100 Days of Hilltopper Basketball History: The 100^th season of WKU Hilltopper Basketball will tip off in November. WKU Athletics is treating fans to unique moments and interesting history from Hilltopper Basketball leading up to the start of the 2018-19 season. More: 2018-19 Media Guide.
