WKU News

• It’s once a mascot, always a mascot for WKU alumnus Jeremy Sharfe: Jeremy Sharfe of Louisville has spent the last 13 years working as a high school guidance counselor, and he just recently accepted the position of Assistant Principal at Greenwood Elementary. “I love working with students and having the opportunity to advocate for them,” said Sharfe. It’s what he does outside of the classroom, however, that is getting everyone to stand up and cheer. “I have been Buddy Bat, the Louisville Bats Minor League Baseball team mascot, for 16 years now,” stated Sharfe. • Annual WKU vs. MTSU Blood Drive: There’s still time to donate blood to the American Red Cross during the annual blood drive competition between WKU and Middle Tennessee State University. • Men’s basketball: Tops Open 100th Season with Exhibition Against Campbellsville: WKU Hilltopper Basketball opens its 100th season with its first exhibition against Campbellsville at 7 tonight at E.A. Diddle Arena. More: Parking information
• Women’s golf: Lady Tops Surge from 10th to First as Clarke Shoots Career-Low 67: WKU Lady Topper Golf surged back into contention Monday at the Little Rock Golf Classic, leaping all the way from 10th place to a tie for first with one round to play. The Lady Toppers fired a 308 in Sunday's first round to put them in 10th place, but a 1-over 289 team total Monday has them tied with Missouri State for the lead with 21-over 597 tallies.
• Volleyball: Anderson, Bebout Recognized with C-USA Awards: For the third week this season, a pair of Lady Toppers have been recognized by the Conference USA office for their impressive performances. Rachel Anderson earned the Offensive Player of the Week nod while Taylor Bebout was named the Setter of the Week.
• Soccer: Roseland Earns C-USA Defensive Player of the Week Honors to Close Career: Senior midfielder Nicole Roseland has been named the C-USA Defensive Player of the Week by the conference office following the final match of her career on The Hill, a 2-0 victory over Marshall on Senior Night last Friday evening.
• Football: Weekly Press Conference: Coach Mike Sanford and defensive coordinator Clayton White look ahead to WKU at MTSU on Friday night.
• Men’s basketball: Countdown to Tipoff - 100 Days of Hilltopper Basketball History: The 100^th season of WKU Hilltopper Basketball will tip off in November. WKU Athletics is treating fans to unique moments and interesting history from Hilltopper Basketball leading up to the start of the 2018-19 season. More: 2018-19 Media Guide.

• WKU residence hall revamp moves forward: Plans to build two new high-end residence halls at WKU moved forward Friday after the university’s Board of Regents approved a land swap that will make the project possible.
