From left: Jack Neel of Bethlehem High School in Bardstown was champion in Poetry while Adam Gothreaux of Teurlings Catholic High School in Lafayette Louisiana, placed second. WKU Forensics Team seniors Brian Anderson and Lane Hedrick handed out the awards during the Senior Hilltopper Classic on Dec. 8.
WKU Forensics hosted 385 students, teachers and parents from 28 high schools in six states -- Kentucky, Tennessee, Illinois, Louisiana, Pennsylvania and New York -- for the annual WKU Senior Hilltopper Classic speech and debate tournament on Saturday (Dec. 8).
The tournament routinely includes nationally top-ranked competitors, making it a sort of national tournament for most of its attendants. This is why the WKU Forensics Team also hosts tryouts for its own team the day before competition.
For the second consecutive year, Danville High School won the team sweepstakes championship. Rowan County High School placed second followed by Bowling Green High School, Ravenwood High School and Randall K. Cooper High School.
