- Geology graduate student takes unique path on journey up The Hill: From rock climber to Hilltopper, the journey to the top has been worth the climb for WKU graduate student Mike Arthur. Arthur is wrapping up a college career that began in 2009 with several zigzags along the way. He received his bachelor’s degree in Montana and has earned his master’s degree in geoscience at WKU. In early 2019 he will begin work as an exploration geologist for Exxon Mobil in Houston, Texas. “I took my unique path but I finally got to where I want to be,” he said. More: View from the Hill
- WKU Panhellenic Council makes gift to enhance Greek scholarships: WKU’s Panhellenic Council recently voted to make additional gifts to their three scholarship funds: United in Sisterhood Scholarship for Greek Women, Panhellenic New Member Academic Scholarship and the Panhellenic Association Pillars Scholarship Fund. This gesture comes a year after the Council made a contribution to help these funds reach endowment level so each scholarship could begin supporting students.
- WKU Business Plan Competition Finalists Announced: The WKU Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation of the Gordon Ford College of Business awarded $3,250 to seven student teams that participated in the annual WKU Business Plan Competition.
- WKU Staff Council Announces Staff Leadership Institute Class of 2019: The WKU Staff Council’s Staff Leadership Institute (SLI) Committee has selected the SLI Class of 2019. Through a competitive process, the committee selected 21 WKU staff members to participate in the eight-month program, which develops leadership skills for a cohort of WKU staff who has demonstrated advancement potential.
- Winter Break Parking Lot Closures and Energy Conservation: In order to maximize energy savings initiatives, lights will be turned off in low use parking lots during Winter Break (Dec. 16-Jan. 1). “LOT CLOSES AT DUSK” signs will be placed at the entrance of these lots. - Board of Regents to hold quarterly meeting today: The WKU Board of Regents will hold its fourth quarterly meeting at noon today (Dec. 14) in the Martin Regents Room of Jody Richards Hall.
- WKU to recognize fall graduates Saturday: WKU’s five academic colleges will recognize more than 1,400 fall graduates in ceremonies on Saturday (Dec. 15). More: Parking information
- WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. - Athletics: Hilltopper Student-Athletes Set For Winter Graduation With High Academic Marks: Twenty-two WKU student-athletes, sporting a cumulative grade point average of 3.22, are expected to participate in college recognition ceremonies and receive their degrees from WKU on Saturday.
- Baseball: Countdown to First Pitch - 100 Days of Hilltopper History: As WKU prepares for the 100th Season of Hilltopper Baseball, WKU Athletics is treating fans to unique moments and interesting history from Hilltopper Baseball, leading up to First Pitch at Nick Denes Field on February 15, 2019.

- BG OnStage to perform musical adaptation of 'Elf': The only public performance of the show is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday at Van Meter Hall at WKU, according to bgonstage.org.
