WKU Winter Break
- WKU Winter Break Information: WKU offices are closed for winter break Dec. 17-Jan. 1 and will reopen Jan. 2. Winter Term classes begin Jan. 2. The Kentucky Museum will be closed Dec. 16-Jan 1. The Hardin Planetarium will present Celebrations for a Long Winter's Night at 2 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday through Dec. 30; Phantom of the Universe will open Jan. 3. The planetarium will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. The WKU Store will be open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Dec. 17-18, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 19-21 and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 22; and will be closed Dec. 23-Jan. 1. - WKU's academic colleges recognize fall 2018 graduates: WKU’s five academic colleges recognized their fall 2018 graduates in ceremonies Saturday (Dec. 15) at Diddle Arena.
- WKU in Glasgow Honors Fall 2018 Graduates During Graduand Ceremony: WKU in Glasgow hosted the Fall Graduand ceremony Thursday (Dec. 13). Twelve students participated in the ceremony, including student speaker Thomas Bratcher, a biology major from Edmonson County who has been accepted to medical school and law school in California.
- WKU Regents approve leasing property to The HIVE: The property formerly housing the ALIVE Center at WKU will soon have a new occupant, thanks to a lease approved Friday (Dec. 14) by the University’s Board of Regents. WKU will lease 1818 US 31W Bypass to The HIVE, a non-profit agency that works with the disabled.
- New scholarship program aims to strengthen workforce: The South Central Workforce Development Board will soon be offering a new scholarship program, KY hirED, focused not only on raising regional educational attainment levels but also enhancing employability skillsets among college students. The program will begin in a limited capacity effective January 1 and is expected to be fully operational by mid-spring 2019.
- WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. WKU's Public Radio can be heard on WKYU-FM (88.9) in Bowling Green/Glasgow; WDCL-FM (89.7) in Somerset/Campbellsville; WKPB-FM (88.9) in Henderson/Owensboro; WKUE-FM (90.9) in Elizabethtown/Bardstown; and online at http://www.wkyufm.org/

- Men’s basketball: Hilltoppers Host Troy: WKU Hilltopper Basketball begins a stretch of 3 of 4 games at home against Troy at 2 p.m. CT Sunday (Dec. 16) at E.A. Diddle Arena. The game will air on ESPN3, on WKU-PBS in Bowling Green and on WBNA in Louisville. Next: WKU travels to Belmont at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 19 then returns home to face Saint Mary’s (California) at 2 p.m. Dec. 22 and Wisconsin at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 29. - Women’s basketball: Lady Toppers Face Familiar Foe Ball State: With final exams and the fall semester in the books, WKU will return to the court at 5 p.m. on Sunday evening as the Lady Toppers square off against Ball State for the sixth time in as many seasons. In the last five years, the host team has come away with the victory each season, and WKU will look to continue that trend inside Diddle Arena against the Cardinals. Next: WKU travels to Notre Dame at 6 p.m. Dec. 19 then hosts Union (Tenn.) at 7 p.m. Dec. 29. More: Event parking information
- Football: LaRussa and Goff Hired to Complete Helton's Assistant Coaching Staff: Head coach Tyson Helton's first assistant coaching staff is now complete as Andy LaRussa (special teams/safeties) and Mike Goff, a 12-year NFL veteran on the offensive line and 2005 All-Pro, have joined the program.
- Baseball: Countdown to First Pitch - 100 Days of Hilltopper History: As WKU prepares for the 100th Season of Hilltopper Baseball, WKU Athletics is treating fans to unique moments and interesting history from Hilltopper Baseball, leading up to First Pitch at Nick Denes Field on February 15, 2019.
