- New Year’s Away From Home: Where did you spend New Year’s Day? On January 1, 1909, Bowling Green attorney Clarence Underwood McElroy found himself amongst other invited guests at the royal palace in Manilla, Philippines. Governor-General James Francis Smith invited McElroy, who was on an extended trip to the Orient, to the “national holiday” soiree. More: WKU Libraries Blog
- Professor Joon Sung honored with Research/Creativity Award for artistic creative works: Chosen for outstanding contributions in Research/Creativity within the Potter College of Arts & Letters, Professor Joon Sung received the Faculty Award in the spring of 2018. Professor Sung is a Professor in the Art Department, Digital Media, and Computer Animation. His portfolio boasts a number of exhibitions and screenings on the local, national, and regional scales.
- Winter Term Intersession Parking and Transit Changes: Here’s a reminder from WKU Parking & Transportation that intersession services are in effect during the Winter Term through Jan. 19. More: Winter Term parking map; Parking & Transportation closed today

- Women’s basketball: Givens, Elgedawy Star as WKU Wins C-USA Opener, 76-58, Over Charlotte: Dee Givens and Raneem Elgedawy each posted career-highs in points and WKU led nearly wire-to-wire in a 76-58 victory over Charlotte inside E.A. Diddle Arena on Thursday evening in the C-USA regular season opener for both teams. Next: WKU vs. Old Dominion at 2 p.m. Saturday at Diddle Arena.
- Men’s basketball: Hilltoppers Net 12 3-Pointers in 68-50 Rout of Charlotte: WKU Hilltopper Basketball set a season high for made 3-pointers and took control early on the road, opening Conference USA play with a 68-50 win at Charlotte on Thursday. The Hilltoppers (8-6, 1-0 C-USA) netted 12 shots from long range, their most in a game since also hitting 12 against Southern Miss on Dec. 30, 2017. Next: WKU at Old Dominion at 6 p.m. Saturday.
- Football: Class of 2019 Early Signees Earn Numerous Accolades: WKU Football's Class of 2019 earned numerous district, regional and state postseason honors as high school and junior college seasons wrapped up across the nation. The Hilltoppers currently have 17 signees announced for head coach Tyson Helton's first signing class.
- Baseball: Countdown to First Pitch - 100 Days of Hilltopper History: As WKU prepares for the 100th Season of Hilltopper Baseball, WKU Athletics is treating fans to unique moments and interesting history from Hilltopper Baseball, leading up to First Pitch at Nick Denes Field on February 15.
