Federal Nutrition Programs to remain funded through February

As reported in the Washington Post, if the current government shutdown continues, the USDA will be funding February benefits for the nearly 40 million Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participants.  T/TAS Head Start and Early Head Start Nutrition Specialist Paula Mydlenski, MS, RDN, LDN, CDN, indicates this continuation of funding will also allow child nutrition programs such as school meals and Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), which includes the Women Infant Children (WIC) nutrition assistance program, to remain operational through February.
