- 388 Students Participating in Winter Super Saturdays: CSI Forensics, Computer Science Discoveries, and Under the Sea Discover are a few of the 30 classes bringing 388 students from across the region to WKU’s campus in Bowling Green and the Kentucky Science Center in Louisville. - Entrepreneurship Professors Win Award: Two Gordon Ford College of Business professors won a third place award at the 2019 United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) Conference held January 23-27. Dr. Pedro de Oliveira and Dr. Whitney Peake's submission titled "Entrepreneurial Finance Over Coffee: Pricing Research and Strategy" earned the award in the Experiential Entrepreneurial Exercises Competition, sponsored by the George Washington University Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence.
- WKU senior attends Federal GIS Conference: WKU senior Dallas McKinney of Mayfield was awarded a scholarship to attend last week’s Environmental Systems Research Institute’s (Esri) Federal Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Conference.
- WKU Board of Regents to hold committee meetings Feb. 8: The WKU Board of Regents will hold committee meetings Feb. 8 in the Martin Regents Room, Jody Richards Hall, beginning at 9 a.m.
- WKU SBDC to host Lunch and Learn session on Business Basics: The WKU Small Business Development Center will host the Lunch and Learn session “Smart Start! Business Basics” Feb. 14.Participants can bring their own lunch and learn about business plans, financing, legal structure and registration process. The free session will be 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the WKU Center for Research and Development, 2413 Nashville Road.
- WKU faculty, staff & students may join Kentucky Academy of Science: WKU is a 2019 Kentucky Academy of Science (KAS) Enhanced Affiliate and faculty, staff and students may join KAS for free. KAS is a nonprofit organization fostering scientific discovery and understanding in Kentucky, and we are more than 4,000 members strong, an all-time high.
- WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. WKU's Public Radio can be heard on WKYU-FM (88.9) in Bowling Green/Glasgow; WDCL-FM (89.7) in Somerset/Campbellsville; WKPB-FM (88.9) in Henderson/Owensboro; WKUE-FM (90.9) in Elizabethtown/Bardstown; and online at http://www.wkyufm.org/

- Countdown to graduation: WKU’s Advising and Career Development Center (ACDC) reminds seniors that there are less than 100 days until May 2019 commencement. - WKU hosting High Impact Practices National Conference: WKU will be hosting the 2019 HIPs in the States Conference Feb. 20-22 at the Downing Student Union. More than 125 individuals will deliver individual presentations, panel sessions and interactive sessions divided across 54 individual breakout sessions and four plenary sessions. All of these sessions highlight important work that is ongoing in the field, including the creation and delivery of high quality HIP experiences, new and innovative forms of HIP implementation, ensuring equity and access to these practices, the tracking and assessment of HIPs, and various collaborative efforts within and across campuses. - After Millennials – Connecting with Generation X Parents and Generation Z Students: On Friday (Feb. 8), the Division of Enrollment and Student Experience will host Jeff Kallay, CEO of Render Experiences, a national consulting firm that specializes in campus visits and orientation programming. Kallay will present After Millennials – Connecting with Generation X Parents and Generation Z Students at 10:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. in the Downing Student Union Auditorium.

- Men’s basketball: Tops Limit Turnovers Again in 76-59 Victory over UTEP: WKU Hilltopper Basketball valued the ball for the second straight outing and made a living at the free-throw line Saturday night, pushing past UTEP 76-59 at E.A. Diddle Arena. The Hilltoppers (13-10, 6-4 Conference USA) committed just nine turnovers and netted 19 of 29 shots from the charity stripe. They've now won five of their last six games after a 1-3 start in league play. Next: WKU at Rice at 8 p.m. Thursday.
- Women’s basketball: Elgedawy, Givens Lead Big Lady Topper Rally Past UTEP, 64-61: Raneem Elgedawy and Dee Givens combined for 53 of WKU's 64 points and the Lady Toppers rallied from a 12-point second-quarter deficit on Saturday afternoon inside the Don Haskins Center, scoring the final four points of the game to steal a 64-61 road victory over UTEP. Next: WKU vs. Rice at 6 p.m. Thursday at Diddle Arena.
- Track & Field: Nott Wins Third-Straight Triple Jump Title as WKU Wraps Up Action at UK: WKU Track and Field freshman Myesha Nott led the Red and White contingent at the Rod McCravy Memorial Invite as she claimed her third triple jump title in as many times competing in the event. The Hilltoppers were up against another tough field of competition with SEC, Big Ten and Conference USA teams represented in Lexington. In total, WKU earned 15 top-10 finishes across the two-day meet inside the Nutter Fieldhouse on Kentucky's campus. Next: WKU will wrap up the regular-season slate Friday and Saturday at the Vanderbilt-hosted Music City Challenge.
- Tennis: Lady Toppers Set Back by Belmont: WKU Tennis fell to the Belmont Bruins 7-0 on Saturday evening. WKU won its first doubles match of the season and multiple Lady Toppers won a set in singles action. Next: WKU vs. UT-Arlington on Friday in Denton, Texas.
- Men’s golf: Hilltoppers Open Spring at Georgia Southern Individual Collegiate: WKU Hilltopper Golf enters its spring season with opportunity available. The Hilltoppers are competing in the Georgia Southern Individual Collegiate, using the event as a qualifier into the following week's Mobile Sports Authority Collegiate.
- Soccer: Neidell Announces Addition of Sam Stutsman to WKU Roster: Head Coach Jason Neidell has announced the signing of Sam Stutsman, a transfer forward from Wisconsin-Milwaukee, to the WKU Soccer roster. Stutsman, a native of O'Fallon, Ill., redshirted her first season with the Panthers in Milwaukee, Wis., and will join the Lady Toppers on the field this spring.
- Baseball: Countdown to First Pitch - 100 Days of Hilltopper History: As WKU prepares for the 100th Season of Hilltopper Baseball, WKU Athletics is treating fans to unique moments and interesting history from Hilltopper Baseball, leading up to First Pitch at Nick Denes Field on February 15. - WKU film students are now certified "level one" stunt fighters: WKU film students are now certified "level one" stunt fighters. Jackie Gerhardy from Brazen Action Design out of Los Angeles and her stunt crew taught WKU students in a basic combat stunt workshop.
- Everyday Life in Cuba On Display In Art Exhibit at WKU: An exhibition of Cuban artwork is now on display at WKU called “The Island of My Love: The Faces and Stories of Cuba.” Miwon Choe, professor of art education at WKU, first traveled to Cuba 15 years ago and began making connections with members of the Cuban art community. She said the artists on display as part of this new exhibit range from young children to professionals.
