Students Can Dress for Success During the Professional Clothes Closet Event
- Thursday, February 14th, 2019
Students taking classes in the Gordon Ford College of Business will have the opportunity on Tuesday, February 19 to select a professional outfit suitable for an interview or a networking event during the Professional Clothes Closet event that will take place on the second floor of Grise Hall from 10 am until 1 p.m.
Each student will be able to select one entire outfit free of charge. Men, for example, will be able to select a pair of pants, a coat, a button-down shirt, and a tie, while women are able to select one pair of pants or a skirt, a jacket, and a blouse. Shoes in a limited amount of sizes are also available as are hosiery, socks, and pocket squares, and scarves.
“Professionalism is an important part of the culture of the College,” said Monica Duvall, Coordinator of the Professional Education and Knowledge program (PEAK), which sponsors the event. “Even if students are allowed to dress casually for an event, we encourage students to dress professionally to give them the confidence they need to put their best foot forward.”
The gently-used clothing has been donated to the College by alumni, faculty, and staff. The closet currently is only open certain times during the semester, typically before important events such as the GFCB Job Fair. By the end of the Spring 2019 semester, the Clothes Closet will open more regularly, thanks to a gift from the WKU Sisterhood. The Sisterhood’s gift allowed the PEAK staff to renovate a room within Grise Hall in order to keep the clothing clean and organized. The new room will also contain a dressing room, where students will be able to try on clothing without having to dress in the public restrooms.
