- WKU student wins Hearst multimedia contest, qualifies for national championship: WKU student Kathryn Ziesig won the second multimedia competition of the 2018-2019 Hearst Journalism Awards Program and qualified to participate in the National Multimedia Championship June 1-6 in San Francisco. Ziesig, a senior from Brentwood, Tennessee, placed first in the Multimedia II-News Competition for the piece titled “Defying All Odds” published in Wkupj.com.
- Finance students attend national conference: WKU finance majors Caleb Lee and Caitlyn Thornton attended the 2019 National LINC conference, hosted by TD Ameritrade Institutional Feb. 6-9 in San Diego. Lee, a senior from Campbellsville, and Thornton, a senior from Walton, were among 63 undergraduate financial planning students from 30 schools who participated in the conference, one of the industry’s largest events for independent registered investment advisors. Dr. Indu Chhachhi, chair of WKU’s Department of Finance, also attended the National LINC conference.
- WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. WKU's Public Radio can be heard on WKYU-FM (88.9) in Bowling Green/Glasgow; WDCL-FM (89.7) in Somerset/Campbellsville; WKPB-FM (88.9) in Henderson/Owensboro; WKUE-FM (90.9) in Elizabethtown/Bardstown; and online at http://www.wkyufm.org/

- Women’s basketball: Lady Toppers Secure First-Round Bye, Earn 67-56 Rivalry Win over Middle Tennessee: In the 74th edition of the top rivalry in program history, WKU led nearly wire-to-wire and split the season series against Middle Tennessee inside E.A. Diddle Arena on Thursday evening, closing the regular season with a 67-56 victory over the Blue Raiders on Senior Night to secure a first-round bye in next week's C-USA Tournament. Sidnee Bopp, Kayla Smith and Jae'Lisa Allen were honored in a special postgame ceremony as part of WKU's Senior Night festivities.
- Track & Field: Hilltopper 4x400 Relay Headed for NCAA Indoor Championships: WKU Track and Field will be represented this weekend at the NCAA Indoor Championships from Birmingham, Ala., as the men's 4x400-meter relay squad earned one of the meets 12 slots. The squad qualified in its final opportunity of the season, running a 3:04.24 at the Boston University Last Chance Invite to earn a spot in the top heat at this weekend's Championships.
- Baseball: Wilson, Nelson Knock Three Hits Each in Loss to Memphis: A five-run second inning for Memphis was the difference on Thursday afternoon, as WKU Baseball fell to the visiting Tigers by a score of 9-6. Jack Wilson and Dillon Nelson each went 3-for-4 with one run batted in, recording their first three-hit games of the season. Next: WKU vs. Memphis scheduled for 3 p.m. today.
- Softball: Tops Headed for Kennesaw State-Hosted Bobbie Bailey Memorial Invitational: WKU Softball (13-2) is headed for the three-day Bobbie Bailey Memorial Invitational in Kennesaw, Ga., today through Sunday, where the squad will face off against Wright State, Kennesaw State and Saint Louis.
