Dr.Whitney Peake Wins Purdue University Apex Award

Dr. Whitney Peake, Vitale Professor of Entrepreneurship and Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, will be honored Friday, April 12 at Purdue University’s annual Apex Awards, given to alumni from the Department of Agricultural Economics in recognition of career achievements.
Dr. Peake arrived at WKU in 2015 and has been actively engaged in award-winning teaching and research projects and has mentored numerous student business plan projects on the local, state, and national levels. She teaches courses in basic entrepreneurship, small business consulting, small business management, and family business management. She has won a variety of teaching and research awards from various entities and doesn’t ever seem to fatigue.
“I have the best job,” she said because she has a unique opportunity to help students with a dream realize their business goals.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in agribusiness economics from Murray State University and a Master’s degree and her Ph.D. in agricultural economics from Purdue. She has taught at both Murray State University and the University of North Texas. She hails from Princeton, Ky., and is married to Jeff and they have two boys.
