Accounting Students Earn KyCPA Scholarships
- Tuesday, April 9th, 2019
Seven WKU accounting students will receive scholarships from the KyCPA Educational Foundation for the 2019-20 academic year.
The scholarships are funded by CPAs and CPA firms across the Commonwealth and are for varying amounts. Students are chosen based on an application process that includes a personal statement on how the scholarship might assist a student’s career goals.
The association awarded 46 scholarships to students in Kentucky accounting programs. The seven from WKU are:
Kelsi Brierly, junior accounting and business data analytics double major from Hanover, Ind.
Sara Creech, sophomore accounting major from Louisville
Jordan Cummings, junior accounting major from Bowling Green
Alea Luckett, junior accounting and finance double major from Louisville
Sarah Pemberton, senior accounting major from Alvaton, Ky.
Grant Rohleder, a MAcc student from Louisville
Frank Zheng, senior accounting and business data analytics double major from Albany, Ky.
The scholarship will help Cummings sock away tuition as she prepares for an extra year of school to earn her Master’s in Accountancy degree.
Brierly and Luckett said they were especially grateful to the KyCPA association for their willingness to pay it forward to up-and-coming accountants.
“The KyCPA provides a variety of opportunities to students to advance their careers,” Brierly said.
“They’ve given a lot to students,” Luckett said. “All the resources they offer… they have been awesome.”
