At the SKy Science Festival 2019 Expo Day on Saturday (April 27), the Louisville Drone Academy is offering the opportunity to learn to fly first-person-view piloted drones.
“We are not aware of any other such opportunity nearby;” said Richard Gelderman, community coordinator for Festival, “certified drone pilots with experience as instructors will be sharing state of the art equipment so that everyone can get the chance to control a drone within the netted enclosure.”
The drone flying workshops will be a featured event the 2019 SKy Science Festival, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Circus Square Park in Bowling Green. Workshop sessions will begin on the hour and half-hour from at 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Participants must register in advance for the workshop time of their choice in order to be guaranteed a spot. The online reservation is handled online through the link from the SKySciFest.com homepage.
There is no charge to attend SKy Science Festival, nor any charge to pre-register for participation in a drone workshop; however, a $15 contribution to SKy Science Festival is collected at the event for participation in the workshop. After pre-registering online, attendees will pay at the Festival Information tent at the center of Circus Square Park to get a token for entry to the learn-to-fly session.
Over a dozen WKU student organizations and departments are offering activities for all ages. Dozens of other exhibits, food and music opportunities are also available.
