WKU Music professor performs, teaches at international clarinet festival

WKU Music Professor John Cipolla performed as a jazz clarinet soloist and taught jazz improvisation classes at the Academia Ibero-Americana do Clarinete music festival April 9–14 in Castelo de Paiva, Portugal.
Dr. Cipolla was an invited guest clarinet soloist and professor, performing and teaching at the ninth edition of the "Ibero-American Clarinet Academy," an annual festival of the Academy of Music of Castelo de Paiva (Portugal) that included concerts and teaching by professors and students from various European countries. Dr. Cipolla was the only American invited to this event. This event continues the process of implementation and development of an educational project that was initiated more than two decades ago that develops cultural and artistic activity at the local, national and international levels. Dr. Cipolla performed jazz compositions as a soloist with the festival big band along with teaching numerous classes and lessons on the topic of jazz improvisation.
