The National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) Board of Directors is honored to recognize Dr. Julia Link Roberts for her distinguished service to NAGC and gifted education, with the 2019 NAGC Ann F. Isaacs Founder’s Memorial Award. Dr. Roberts is the Mahurin Professor of Gifted Education and Executive Director of The Center for Gifted Studies at WKU.

“Dr. Roberts is one of the most influential people in the field of gifted education,” said Jonathan Plucker, NAGC Board President-Elect. “She is one of the few people within the field to have an important impact at state, national, and international levels. Dr. Roberts is an inspiration and source of support for thousands of gifted students, their families and their educators, and she is a valuable mentor to several leaders within the field.”

Dr. Roberts is a leading advocate for gifted children at the state, national and international levels. In 2001, NAGC recognized her advocacy work with the inaugural David W. Belin Advocacy Award, and in 2004, she was featured in Profiles of Influence in Gifted Education. Dr. Roberts is President of the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children, and she is chairperson of The Kentucky Advisory Council for Gifted Education. Dr. Roberts enjoys the opportunity to direct summer and Saturday programs for hundreds of young people, something she has done each year for more than 30 years.

Dr. Roberts will receive the NAGC Ann F. Isaacs Founder’s Memorial Award at the NAGC 66th Annual Convention in Albuquerque, New Mexico, November 7-10.
