The Gordon Ford College of Business recognizes that business education is enhanced when students are exposed to a broad variety of personal and cultural perspectives and experiences. These perspectives and experiences are broadly defined and may include differences such as race, ethnicity, religion, orientation, age, or even nationality. Because the College values this diversity, a scholarship is offered to one student per year who exemplifies the spirit of diversity among students in Grise Hall.
The GFCB Diversity Scholarship is a $1,000 award that is funded by alums Paul B. and Ann R. Calico.
“We felt that it would be appropriate to repay our debt of gratitude by opening doors that might otherwise remain closed for some students today,” Mr. Calico said. “The path to success is anything but clear for students facing obstacles to a quality education. Our scholarship is designed to benefit deserving students with demonstrated financial need and high academic standards.”
Junior accounting student Frank Zheng was the 2018 recipient of the GFCB Diversity Scholarship.
“I was shocked and honored,” he said. “Receiving the $1,000 definitely relieved some financial burden and allowed me to gain an exceptional study abroad experience.” Zheng traveled to Hanyang International Summer School in Seoul, South Korea during the summer of 2018, which was one dream come true for him.
