Three prominent entrepreneurial-minded women will join students on WKU’s campus next week as part of Women Entrepreneurship Week (WEW), a global event held each year during the third week in October. Demetria Gilkey, Dr. Azurdee Garland, and Amira Zukic will speak of their experiences in starting businesses during the “Women Mean Business: The Founder’s Journey” panel discussion to be held Tuesday, October 22 at 4 p.m. in Guillaume Auditorium located in Grise Hall.

• Demetria Gilkey is a WKU graduate who now serves as an energetic and inspirational life coach and motivational speaker.
• Dr. Azurdee Garland is the founder of Phoenix Rising Inc., a non-profit organization that provides safe spaces and recovery assistance for children and youth affected by sexual exploitation.
• Amira Zukic is co-founder of Taz Trucking, one of the largest trucking companies in the region.  

These three women represent a diverse cross-section of entrepreneurial thought in the Bowling Green community and promise to provide a wealth of information to those in attendance.

More than 120 universities in more than 15 countries are expected to host events during WEW, according to BizEd Magazine. The WKU Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and the Department of Management are co-sponsoring the event on WKU’s campus. The WKU event is free and open to the public.
