WKU Libraries is accepting non-perishable food items and toiletry donations to benefit the WKU Food Pantry in exchange for overdue library fines. “For every food item brought in, we will forgive $1 of library fines for any student, faculty or staff needing the discount,” said Amanda Hardin, manager of Access Services.
The University Libraries has donated hundreds of food items over the past decade, giving to campus and community food banks. Recommended foods are any type of non-perishable canned fruits or vegetables, hearty soups like chili or beef stew, peanut butter, bagged beans, crackers, pastas and even microwavable foods. Toiletries such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, soap and toilet paper are welcome too. Refrigerated foods are not allowed.
Donations should be brought to Cravens Fourth Floor at the Circulation Desk to have fines forgiven. The food drive will end Friday, November 22. Please contact Amanda Hardin at 270-745-6115 for further information.
