Center for Applied Science in Health and Aging (CASHA) graduate assistants from multiple departments have earned numerous awards and honors this semester. 

This November, Elizabeth Apelt and Annika Gabbard, both second year Communication Sciences and Disorders graduate students, were inducted into Phi Kappa Phi, a prestigious and selective honor society. Only the upper 10% of graduate students are invited to join. As WKU reinstated its chapter of Phi Kappa Phi this year, Apelt and Gabbard are among the first students in some time to be inducted at WKU.

Elizabeth Apelt also was awarded second place for her recent poster presentation at the Kentucky Rural Health Association (KHRA) Conference. As one of the Top 3 poster winners, she had the opportunity to speak about Bingocize® and her poster and research study to all conference attendees.

Ashley Millett, CASHA graduate assistant and second year Kinesiology: Exercise Physiology graduate student, received the Exercise Physiologist Internship in the Human Performance Lab at St. Jude Children’s Hospital located in Memphis, TN. As the Exercise Physiologist Intern in the Human Performance Lab, Millett will perform physical function assessments on childhood cancer survivors and complete research projects during the Spring 2020 semester.
