Econ Student Achieves What Others Thought Not Possible

Jeremy Ashworth is an economics student from Bardstown who was selected to give the student address at this semester’s Recognition Ceremony. Many in Jeremy’s life didn’t give him much of a chance to walk across the stage to collect a diploma, much less be the graduate chosen to provide advice and encouragement to his fellow graduates.
“Coming out of high school, I was told I was never going to make it,” Jeremy remembers. But he ignored the naysayers and forged ahead, even earning a walk-on role with the football team, pursuing leadership roles within FarmHouse Fraternity, and completing an internship with Whayne Supply Company and eventually earning full-time employment with the company.
“Just a few short sentences from a few people nearly caused me to stop myself from making the greatest decision of my life – attending this University,” he said. “No matter what someone tells you, no matter what people think will happen to you, believe in yourself and only yourself. No matter how unachievable you think the goal is, keep going.”
