WKU Forensics Team members win at national qualifying tournament

The WKU Forensics Team traveled to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to compete in the District-Six National Qualifying tournament Feb. 28-29.
Over two days of competition, team members captured six individual wins. WKU also won the team sweepstakes championship, beating out Florida State University, the University of Florida and the University of Alabama. The District-Six tournament is a regional precursor and qualifier to the American Forensics Association National Individual Events Tournament, one of the two national championship tournaments the WKU Forensics Team vies to win each spring.
Results from the District-6 AFA Qualifier Invitational are as follows:
- After Dinner Speaking: Bradley Wascher of Montgomery, Alabama, fourth; Symone Whalin of Sonora, sixth
- Persuasive Speaking: Caitlyn Woitena of Houston, Texas, third; Corey Newsome of Morehead, fifth
- Informative Speaking: Warren Forstmann of Hollywood, Florida, first; Corey Newsome of Morehead, second; Faith LoPiccolo of Lexington, third
- Communication Analysis: Faith LoPiccolo of Lexington, second; Caitlyn Woitena of Houston, Texas, fifth
- Dramatic Interpretation: Tayland Ratliff of Youngsville, Louisiana, first; Zakkiyah Sanders of Apple Valley, Minnesota, second; Kelly Lingen of Lakeville, Minnesota, third
- Dramatic Duo: Emma Warnecke of San Antonio, Texas, and Zakkiyah Sanders of Apple Valley, Minnesota, first; Corey Newsome of Morehead and Reese Johnson of Burnsville, Minnesota, second; Warren Forstmann of Hollywood, Florida and Dalliss Hicks of Miramar, Florida, third; April Saysithi of Saint Michael, Minnesota, and Kelly Lingen of Lakeville, Minnesota, fourth
- Program Oral Interpretation: Derek Collins of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, first; Faith LoPiccolo of Lexington, second; Kelly Lingen of Lakeville, Minnesota, third
- Prose Interpretation: Jo Headrick of Wadsworth, Ohio, second; April Saysithi of Saint Michael, Minnesota, fourth
