A Letter to Faculty and Staff about Covid-19
- Wednesday, March 25th, 2020
Dear Faculty and Staff,
The past several weeks have presented tremendous challenges. I am proud of the way in which you responded and am thankful for the countless hours you invested to transition courses, student support activities and almost every other institutional function to a new modality. You should take pride in how rapidly we have moved beyond what is comfortable and familiar; pushed each other to think differently and innovatively; and lifted one another up to ensure we continue to fulfill our mission.
We are just beginning to absorb and make sense of the new and evolving context in which we will work and live for the near term. This is a significant adjustment for you and for our students. Please continue to be mindful of each other’s struggles as we navigate through this together.
As our Commonwealth continues the fight to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, WKU will continue to lead in our communities, demonstrating care for every individual our institution serves. Our campuses may look and feel different than when we began our spring break, but our spirit and our commitment remain the same.
And as we begin this week, more separate and isolated than usual, I am reminded of what I tell our first-year students during Master Plan - many of whom are away from their family support systems for the first time. “You might be on your own, but you are never alone.”
I’ve never been more proud to be a Hilltopper. Go Tops!
Best,
Timothy C. Caboni
