On Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at 8:44pm, WKU Police conducted an interview with three females who were observed with sheets on their head and shoulders. During the course of the interview, the individuals indicated they were recording videos as part of a trend on TikTok known as the Ghost Photoshoot. WKU-PD was able to find and verify the TikTok challenge on social media. The officer explained that the attire could cause concern, and the individuals seemed to understand the officer’s alarm.
A video shared on social media shows three individuals wearing sheets near the WKU South Lawn, and some versions of the video have been labeled “KKK.” WKU-PD confirmed the individuals shown in the video were the same individuals taking part in the TikTok Ghost Photoshoot and their actions were not racially motivated.
