WKU Forensics Team wins Illinois State University tournament

The WKU Forensics Team placed first in sweepstakes at the Illinois State University “Back to the Nest” tournament the weekend of Oct. 10-11. The team also competed successfully in debate at the Steve Hunt Classic, hosted virtually by Lewis and Clark College.
At “Back to the Nest” virtual tournament, WKU placed ahead of Bradley University, Eastern Michigan University, Cornell University and the University of Texas at Austin.
The team will compete this weekend in a virtual tournament hosted by Central Missouri University.
Results from “Back to the Nest” are as follows:
- After Dinner Speaking: Joey Eberle of Maple Grove, Minnesota, fourth.
- Dramatic Interpretation: Paige Allbright of Lafayette, Louisiana, second.
- Duo Interpretation: Corey Newsome of Morehead and Reese Johnson of Burnsville, Minnesota, first; Corey Newsome and Paige Allbright, third.
- Extemporaneous Speaking: Madelynn Einhorn of Oakwood, Ohio, fifth.
- Impromptu Speaking: Madelynn Einhorn, third.
- Informative Speaking: Kelly Lingen of Lakeville, Minnesota, first; Parker Anderson of Hodgenville, third.
- Persuasive Speaking: Caitlyn Woitena of Houston, Texas, fourth.
- Poetry Interpretation: Warren Forstmann of Hollywood, Florida, first.
- Program Oral Interpretation: Kellin Robinson of Roseville, Minnesota, second.
- Prose Interpretation: Paige Allbright, third.
Results from the Steve Hunt Classic are as follows:
- Junior-Varsity Lincoln-Douglas Debate: Miles Morton of Los Angeles, California, first.
- Junior-Varsity Lincoln-Douglas Debate Speaker Awards: Miles Morton, top speaker.
- Varsity Lincoln-Douglas Debate: Ben Hanson of Louisville, second; Andre Swai of Springfield, Missouri, Quarterfinals (Top 8.)
- Varsity Lincoln-Douglas Debate Speaker Awards: Andre Swai, second; Ben Hanson, third.
