Choosing WKU was easy for accounting student Emilee Marshall, a senior from White House, Tenn. A fifth-generation WKU student, Marshall’s great-great-grandmother attended Potter College for Young Ladies, which would later become part of WKU. For Marshall, WKU felt like home before she even arrived.

During her time on the Hill, Marshall took advantage of the student success resources and extracurricular activities offered by the WKU Gordon Ford College of Business.

“I was prepped with mock interviews and resume workshops from the amazing Monica Duvall and Adrianne Browning from GFCB’s Student Success Center. They are superstars!” Marshall said.

As a sophomore, Marshall joined Beta Alpha Psi (BAP), an honors accounting fraternity. She is now the Vice President of Reporting and loves being involved with the organization. Through a BAP event, Meet the Firms, Marshall was able to secure her current internship and her future job.

“BAP gave me so many opportunities to grow my network and find my dream job,” Marshall said.

Through BAP, Marshall also met a faculty member in the Department of Accounting who helped her earn a scholarship to pay for her last year of school. In August, Marshall was named a Public Company Account Oversight Board (PCAOB) Scholar for the 2021-2022 academic year. She was one of 253 students nationwide to receive a $10,000 scholarship from PCAOB.

“The PCAOB scholarship was the biggest opportunity I have been given in college. I am very thankful for the kind faculty that led me to it,” said Marshall. “Not every school has a faculty that go out of their way to help you like this. I am proud to be a Topper!”

Marshall is grateful for her time at WKU and the foundation she learned in tax from Dr. B & Dr. Callahan. Upon graduation in May 2022, she plans to join Carr Riggs and Ingram CPAs and Advisors.
