As part of Parent and Family Weekend, the family of WKU senior Claire Linder of Louisville was recognized as WKU’s 2021 Family of the Year.
Linder, who is majoring in Mathematical Economics and Marketing, was joined by her parents, Mark and Beth Linder, sister Hadley, and grandmother Sarah Rittenberry.
In her essay, Linder said, “This coming May, I will be the fifth graduate in my family from WKU. My parents, through their tireless involvement, commitment, and love raised us to pursue our dreams and remember the Hill we climbed to get there.
“My own experience at WKU has been unique, and I have found even more ways to love this university. As the Spirit Master Chair, I am proud to lead an organization that shares the Spirit of WKU with prospective and current students, serves the entire university, and encourages us all to ‘climb higher.’”
A selection committee reviewed over 200 nominations for this year’s Family of the Year. The Linder family received a prize package including lodging, tickets to all weekend events, and an $800 student scholarship.
