A plethora of plans and pizza encompassed the English Club’s second meeting of the semester.
The meeting, which occurred on Wednesday, Sept. 29 in the student lounge of Cherry Hall, was hosted by the club’s sponsors Dr. Hunley and Dr. Liddle.
Dr. Hunley arrived at the meeting with a variety of pizza and after a quick discussion of member’s recent literature interests, planning for the rest of the semester began.
The club first elected a social media manager, a position that had been vacant for several years. They plan to utilize the club’s various social media platforms to keep students in the department engaged and aware of upcoming events. Students can follow @wkuenglishclub for more information.
The club also plans to host its first open mic night of the semester in October. This holds huge significance for the club, since all open mic nights were virtual last year due to Covid-19. The club has tentatively planned for the event to take place on Thursday, Oct. 21, and are exploring the possibility of hosting it at a local coffee shop in Bowling Green.
There are also huge plans in the works for the club’s book sale, another event sidelined last year due to Covid. The club has a vast array of books that they plan to sell for extremely discounted prices. This year they plan to have the sale take on a spooky theme as they host it during the last week of October.
The club encourages anyone still interested in joining to attend the next English Club meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 3 p.m. in Cherry Hall 124.
