BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Governor Louie B. Nunn Kentucky Teacher Hall of Fame has selected Sharon Coomer Mattingly and Evelyn Douglas as members of its 13th class.

The 2021 Hall of Fame members, chosen by a statewide selection committee, will be inducted Friday, November 19, on the campus of Western Kentucky University. Since COVID-19 restrictions prevented an induction ceremony last year, 2020 Hall of Fame inductees Lynn Riedling and Wanda Clouse will be formally inducted alongside their fellow 2021 inductees.

Sharon Coomer Mattingly is in her 27^th year as a Spanish teacher at Barren County High School. The late Evelyn Douglas taught math at Bullitt Central High School for the majority of her four decades at the school. Lynn Riedling has taught first-grade students for more than 34 years at Stephen Foster Traditional Academy in Louisville. Wanda Clouse taught at Boone Elementary and retired from Girdler Elementary School in Knox County. Full biographies of the inductees will be released on November 19. 

The Governor Louie B. Nunn Kentucky Teacher Hall of Fame was created in 2000 through a gift by former Gov. Nunn, who hoped to recognize the vital role that classroom teachers in Kentucky play in the education of young people and the positive impact education has on the state’s economy.  WKU was selected as the home of the Teacher Hall of Fame because of its more than 100-year history in teacher education.
