Dr. Margaret Crowder, an Instructor in WKU’s Department of Earth, Environmental, and Atmospheric Sciences, was installed as president of the National Association of Geoscience Teachers (NAGT) at the organization's awards celebration held virtually this year during the annual meeting of the Geological Society of America in Portland, Oregon.

Dr. Crowder has been part of the Executive Committee of NAGT for the past five years, serving first as an ex-officio committee member as the editor-in-chief of the NAGT publication In the Trenches from 2016-2019, and then as second vice president from 2019-2020 and vice president from 2020-2021. As part of her service to NAGT, Dr. Crowder has been the society liaison to the American Geosciences Institute (AGI), the NAGT Joint Technical Program Committee representative to the Geological Society of America, and is on the NAGT Advocacy committee and AGI Intersociety Committee on Diversity.
