WKU’s Campus Recreation and Wellness office, in conjunction with Bowling Green Parks and Recreation, will host an adaptive athletics showcase from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 24) in the Preston Health and Activities Center. The event is open to all students and members of the community.
During the showcase, individuals will have the opportunity to try wheelchair basketball, wheelchair tennis, handcycles, and goalball. The adaptive athletics program at WKU exists to provide opportunities for people with physical disabilities to pursue recreational sports.
Madison Duncan, president of the adaptive athletics program at WKU, said there are not many collegiate programs like WKU’s. “This program is one of about 30 in the country and the only program at the collegiate level in Kentucky,” she said.
