28 WKU students candidates for Homecoming queen

Mallory Vaughn was crowned Homecoming 2016 queen. Twenty-eight WKU students are candidates for Homecoming 2017 queen.
Twenty-eight students are candidates for Homecoming 2017 queen at WKU.
WKU will play Charlotte in the Homecoming football game on Oct. 14. At halftime, the Homecoming Court, styled by Belk, will be introduced, followed by the crowning of the queen. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium.
Candidates will participate in numerous activities during Homecoming Week including a fall social on Oct. 9, an interview on Oct. 10, a volunteer experience and banquet celebration on Oct. 11, Bowling Green Chili and Cheese Luncheon and Pep Rally on Oct. 12 and the Homecoming Parade and Big Red’s Roar on Oct. 13. WKU students will cast their votes for queen in online balloting on Oct. 9.

Candidates are:
- Morgan Askins of Rockfield, the daughter of Brent and Jeanette Askins. She is an Agriculture major and Entrepreneurship minor and is sponsored by Sigma Alpha.
- Krysten Barlow of Taylorsville, the daughter of Steve and Michelle Barlow. She is a Marketing Sales major and Economics minor and is sponsored by Alpha Delta Pi and Sigma Nu.
- Casey Birge of Evansville, Indiana, the daughter of Scott and Susan Birge. She is a Business Administration major and Organizational Leadership minor and is sponsored by Kappa Delta and Kappa Sigma.
- Molly Buchignani of Lexington, the daughter of Buck and Katy Buchignani. She is an Interdisciplinary Studies major and Psychology minor and is sponsored by Alpha Xi Delta and Sigma Chi.
- Laura Bunning of Fort Thomas, the daughter of David and Kay Bunning. She is a Political Science and Psychology minor and is sponsored by Phi Mu and Kappa Alpha.
- Katherine Crider of Dawson Springs, the daughter of Jeff and Cindy Crider. She is a Biology major and Chemistry minor and is sponsored by Delta Zeta and Pi Kappa Alpha.
- Ambriehl Crutchfield of Nashville, Tennessee, the daughter of Joseph Crutchfield and Brandi Overton. She is a Broadcast News major and Political Science minor and is sponsored by Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
- Jenna Curtis of Franklin, the daughter of Steve and Nancy Curtis. She is an Exercise Science major and is sponsored by Baptist Campus Ministries.
- Andi Dahmer of Louisville, the daughter of Steve Dahmer and Ann Coffey. She is a Chinese, Economics and Spanish major and is sponsored by Student Government Association.
- Bailey Deglow of Bowling Green, the daughter of Chris and Laura Deglow. She is a Chemistry major and Biophysics minor and is sponsored by WKU Student Alumni Ambassadors.
- Cathryn Ellis of Danville, the daughter of Charlie and Jana Ellis. She is a Spanish and Communication Studies major and is sponsored by Omega Phi Alpha and Sigma Phi Epsilon.
- Laryn Hilderbrandt of Cox's Creek, the daughter of Ron and Laura Hilderbrandt. She is a Public Relations major and Marketing and Journalism Writing minor and is sponsored by Panhellenic Association and Interfraternity Council.
- Lauren Hutchinson of Hendersonville, Tennessee, the daughter of Don and Jill Hutchinson. She is a Dental Hygiene major and is sponsored by Student American Dental Hygienists’ Association.
- Haley Jones of Elizabethtown, the daughter of Kenny and Michelle Jones. She is a Communication Disorders major and is sponsored by National Student Speech-Language Hearing Association.

- Hang Pham of Vietnam, the daughter of Van Ngo and Bat Pham. She is a Fashion Design major and is sponsored by Council of International Students Organization.
- Emily Anne Pride of Bowling Green, the daughter of Dr. Charley and Julie Pride. She is a Corporate & Organizational Communication major and is sponsored by Department of Communication.
- Iesha Sanchez of York, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Robert and Latisha Owens. She is a Social Work major and is sponsored by Intercultural Student Engagement Center and Zeta Phi Beta.
- Elizabeth Settle of Hopkinsville, the daughter of Dwight and Shannon Settle. She is a Communication Studies and Political Studies major and is sponsored by Sigma Kappa, Alpha Tau Omega, Farmhouse Fraternity and Iota Phi Theta.
- Dimond Shelton of Cromwell, the daughter of Todd and Kathy Shelton. She is a Biology and Chemistry major and Biophysics minor and is sponsored by Mahurin Honors College.
