WKU selects 16 for 2018-19 Cherry Presidential Scholarship

WKU has selected 16 students as recipients of the 2018-19 Cherry Presidential Scholarship, the school’s most prestigious academic award.
The scholarship is valued at $16,000 annually and worth $64,000 during a four-year period. The students were among 48 applicants who visited WKU on Feb. 5 for activities that included an interview. In addition to demonstrating outstanding scholastic achievement at the secondary level, applicants submitted personal statements and essays as part of the selection process.
The 2018-19 Cherry Presidential Scholarship Recipients are:
- Nora Alshimary of Louisville, a senior at Brown School who plans to major in Biology.
- Nicholas Barth of Alvaton, a senior at Greenwood High School who plans to major in Elementary Education.
- Taylor Doke of Montezuma, New Mexico, a senior at Armand Hammer United World College who plans to major in Psychology.
- Alexander Drury of Louisville, a senior at Christian Academy of Louisville who plans to major in Political Science.
- Tori Hampton of Morgantown, a senior at Butler County High School who has an undeclared major.
- Austin Harne of Liberty, a senior at Casey County High School who plans to major in Civil Engineering.
- Benjamin Herald of London, a senior at South Laurel High School who plans to major in Mechanical Engineering.
- Sydney Jones of Erlanger, a senior at Dixie Heights High School who plans to major in Communication Studies.
- Katelyn Kalany of Florence, a senior at Larry Ryle High School who plans to major in Biology.
- Ekaterina Kovatsenko of Crestwood, a senior at South Oldham High School who plans to major in Biology.
- Lauren McQuaide of Columbia, a senior at Adair County High School who plans to major in Chemistry.
- Zena Pare of Alvaton, a senior who attends Homeschool and plans to major in Biology.
- Susan Rahimzadeh of Richmond, a senior at Madison Central High School who plans to major in History.
- Turner Reynolds of Versailles, a senior at Woodford County High School who plans to major in Communication Studies.
- Patrick Schaller of LaGrange, a senior at Oldham County Senior High School who plans to major in International Affairs.
- Kieran Waigel of Louisville, a senior at DuPont Manual Magnet High School who plans to major in Computer Science.
