- WKU TRIO Programs
- Monday, April 2nd, 2018
High school juniors and seniors in Educational Talent Search and Upward Bound have been invited to WKU’s campus for an event on April 10. ETS and UB serve students in Allen, Barren, Butler, Cumberland, Edmonson, Simpson, Hart, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe and Warren counties.
At the event, TRIO seniors will have the opportunity to seek advice from college professors and college students about what to expect in college and how to be a successful college student and the next steps from high school graduation to college freshman year. Seniors will also receive certificates for participating in Educational Talent Search and a graduation gift during a ceremony for participants.
TRIO juniors will participate in a college fair, where representatives from 14 colleges and universities will be available to answer questions and share information. Participants will also enjoy a WKU campus tour led by WKU Spirit Masters, and an informational session delivered by KHEAA counselor John Bergman.
All events will take place in the Downing Student Union. WKU President Timothy C. Caboni will deliver opening remarks to TRIO students.
TRIO programs target student populations that are under-represented in postsecondary education, and events like this one help to get students acquainted with college campuses and prepared for the academic and personal growth they will experience by pursuing a postsecondary degree.
TRIO Programs are federally funded and offer assistance in college enrollment to qualified students in middle school and high school, as well as adult and veteran learners. These programs are free to all participants. For information, contact TRIO program offices in Jones-Jaggers Hall on WKU’s campus at (270) 745-4400 or visit www.wku.edu/trio
