20 WKU students earned the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship for study abroad in the March 2023 application cycle—as many as all other colleges and universities in Kentucky combined.

Two WKU students were awarded the Freeman-ASIA scholarship, and three additional WKU students were awarded Phi Kappa Phi study abroad grants. Their awards totaled $11,000.

Parker Raybourne, a 2022 graduate in Political Science, Public Relations, and Advertising, is WKU’s fifth Fulbright US Student Program grantee of the 2023-24 award year. Parker has been awarded an English Teaching Assistantship for Indonesia.

Kerby Gilstrap, a 2022 graduate in International Affairs and Arabic from Bowling Green, is WKU’s fourth Fulbright US Student Program grantee of the 2023-24 award year. Kerby has been awarded an English Teaching Assistantship for Algeria.

Morgan Basil, a 2022 graduate in Spanish and Psychological Science from Alvaton, is WKU’s third Fulbright US Student Program grantee of the 2023-24 award year. Morgan has been awarded an English Teaching Assistantship for Spain.

WKU student Vivian Rivera has been awarded the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship. One of only three students studying at Kentucky institutions to be named a Goldwater Scholar in this application cycle, she is WKU's first since 2019.
