Board of Regents Members

David Brinkley is the Director of Public Broadcasting for the only public joint radio and television licensee in Kentucky.  Both operations are housed on the campus of Western Kentucky University. David has been involved at WKU since 1998 after five years of service with Kentucky Educational Television.  He has a lengthy television production background with 12 Ohio Valley Emmy Awards to his credit.  He is the current immediate past chair of the Kentucky Public Radio Network and is the Chair-Elect for the Kentucky Broadcaster’s Association.   He is an active member of National Association of Broadcasters and the Kentucky Broadcaster’s Association.  Regionally, he is the current Vice -Chair of the National Educational Telecommunications Association Affinity Group Coalition.  He also serves on the University License Association Executive Committee and is a 2017 graduate of PBS’s Executive Leadership Network class.  Originally from Somerset, Kentucky, David has three children (Madison, Braden, and Gauge), two adopted cats (Mr. Mustachio and Half-stache), and two adopted greyhounds (Movin’ and Nui).  He is married to Jennifer Brinkley, a Bowling Green attorney and Assistant Professor of Pedagogical Studies at WKU. His term on the Board ends June, 2024.
