WKU Sisterhood Spotlight: Robin Boggs ('01, '04)
Hometown: Elizabethtown, Ky.
Current City: Pasadena, Md.
When did you attend WKU? Bachelor of Arts in Communication 1999-2001; Master of Arts in Communication 2002-2004
What activities were you involved in as a student or are you now involved in as an
alumna? As an undergrad student, I was focused on Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) and worked full-time.
As a graduate student, I worked full-time as the Graduate Studies Specialist in the
Graduate Studies Office confirming that grad students completed their degree requirements.
As an alumna, I give to WKU through the Alumni Association and as a member of the
Sisterhood.
Do you have a favorite memory from college? Any evening with my Schneider Hall dorm mates, especially on the balcony. I'll also
never forget the nights Judy, the Hall's ghost, visited us in full force. In PBL,
we hosted a puppy event at a local nursing home -- seeing the light in the eyes of
the residents visiting with some college kids and those puppies still hits me in the
heart today! Oh, and Happy Inn deliveries in our lobby or listening to the Muckrakers
at Happy Inn!
Is there a Sisterhood moment that stands out to you or made an impact? I'm new to the Sisterhood, but I'm so excited to contribute to this amazing group!
If you work, what do you do? I am the Deputy Chief of Staff at the National Security Agency's (NSA) National Engagement
Office following 17 years in public affairs and strategic communications in various
commands across the U.S. Government. My WKU communications degrees have served me
well!
Tell us about your family/connection to other Sisterhood members: I'm so blessed that Christy Fuller was my last roommate at Schneider Hall and told
me about the Sisterhood. My first roommate at Schneider, Becky Smith, is also a member.
My Schneider Hall family, and these two women, left deep impressions on me, and I'm
proud to know them today.
Do you have any passion projects other than WKU Sisterhood? I love supporting my hometown American Legion Hardin Post 113, whether I'm in town
or not. I’m still a member of the Auxiliary there and the American Legion Riders.
We give to their local causes and participate as volunteers whenever we can in their
events at home or beyond.
Share a fun fact about yourself: Just one? The pressure of answering this question!! I learned to ride a motorcycle
at age 40. I jumped out of a plane with a U.S. Army Golden Knight, hosted the Washington
Nationals President’s mascots at a U.S. Army command, and escorted the Georgetown
Cupcakes owners at the same command to learn the basics of building a cupcake tank.
I deployed to Hurricane Katrina recovery operations to tell the U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers’ story. It’s hard to decide with the life I’ve been blessed to lead. A lifetime
of facts, fun or not, and I’m better for them.
