Grace Meiser, Jennie B. & N.O. Taff Scholarship Winner

Grace Meiser

The faculty and staff within the Sociology department have played a crucial role in making my career goals a reality. Whether it be advising me in my major or equipping me with the knowledge to enter my desired career field competently, the Sociology department has continuously supported me in my dreams and aspirations.

As a founding member of the WKUAA DEI Council, Alumni Leadership Scholar, and Mentor of the Chinese Flagship Program, my experience within the Sociology department has assisted in strengthening and broadening my leadership capabilities within these organizations.

After graduation, I plan to complete the Flagship Capstone experience, enrolling directly in a Chinese or Taiwanese university, and reach ACTFL Superior proficiency. As a part of my Capstone experience abroad, I intend to intern for an organization that specializes in rescuing and rehabilitating child sex trafficking survivors. My hope is to one day hold a little girl who has been trafficked and tell her in a language she understands that she is loved and cared for.
