Biography
Sydney Windhorst, is a senior on the hill studying in International Affairs, Journalism Writing and Political Science. She is a third year spirit master and a very proud third generation Hilltopper. In fact, her family was named the 2023 WKU Family of The Year. Sydney aspires to join the Foreign Service and through partnership with WKU's Office of Scholar Development, she has interned for the US Department of State, United States Central Command, and United States Senate. Sydney is a Mahurin Honors College scholar, Cherry Presidential Scholar, member of the writing honors society, Kappa Tau Alpha, WKU Top Media Scholar of 2023, and is consistently on the President’s List. Her passion lies with the refugee community, and Sydney is an intern at the BG international center as well as a mentor with WKU's Refugee Student Program. She spent spring 2023 studying abroad in Florence, Italy where she partnered with the university to work as a foreign correspondent and Spring 2024 in Chiang Mai, Thailand where she taught English to Buddhist monks and volunteered at an HIV/AIDS orphanage. On campus, Sydney has also served as the writer for the MHC Branding Team, a counselor for H4, the Honors Freshman Orientation Program, Language GreenHouse, is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success, a three time published Honors Undergraduate researcher, and member of Christ Fellowship Church.
