By invitation of WKU AMS Graduate Chapter, Dr. Sevgi ŞENGÜL AYAN, a graduate of WKU MS Mathematics program, will be giving a Math Colloquium talk this Friday, March 1st 3pm-4pm in COHH 3119. This talk will be presented via ZOOM.
Title "Bridging the Gap: Mathematical Modeling and Analysis of Neurobiological Processes Integrating Differential Equations, Transfer Entropy, Machine Learning, Deep Neural Networks, and EEG Analysis for Emotion Recognition".
Abstract: This presentation seeks to investigate the integration of mathematical modeling and state-of-the-art analytical approaches in order to understand the intricacies of neurobiological processes. This talk primarily concentrates on the amalgamation of differential equations, transfer entropy, machine learning, deep neural networks, and EEG analysis. This will offer a comprehensive framework for studying neural mechanisms and enhancing our understanding of brain function.

The Gender & Women’s Studies Program is excited to announce this year’s speaker for our Gail Martin Lecture Series!
On Friday, March 1st, at 4:00 p.m., Dr. Kishonna Gray, Associate Professor of Writing, Rhetoric, & Digital Studies and Africana Studies at the University of Kentucky, will give a talk titled: “Augmenting Reality: Black Praxis in Digital Gaming.”
This presentation will explore Black praxis (practices, culture, creation, aesthetics, etc.) in gaming, situating it in other Black aesthetic traditions. By exploring Black haptics, Black sonics, and Black optics, Dr. Gray will demonstrate the impact that these Black digital practices have had on the larger landscape of gaming and streaming.
The event will be held in Cherry Hall 125. Everyone is welcome!
This event is being co-sponsored by the Africana Studies Program and the Department of English.

The 2024 Abound Credit Union Celebration of the Arts will honor its winning entries with an Awards Ceremony at the Kentucky Museum on Friday, March 1, from 6pm to 8pm. Remarks begin at 7pm.
The Kentucky Museum presents their annual juried art exhibit, which is truly a celebration of this region’s art. Generously sponsored by Abound Credit Union, any Kentucky resident over the age of 18 and living within 65 miles of Bowling Green was eligible to enter a piece of their original artwork created within the last two years. Monetary awards will be presented in ten categories as well as for Best of Show, the Purchase Award, the WKU Student Purchase Award, the World's Greatest Studio Tour Merit Award, and the Artworks Merit Award.

The Resident Assistant (RA) is a unique, live-in, student leadership position in the Department of Housing and Residence Life (HRL) and is a valued member of the HRL team. The primary responsibility of the RA is to build a residential community that engages and connects students and encourages academic success and personal development.
